Arm Pouch Sling – Alixor

Arm Pouch Sling is a foundational upper limb immobilisation product that plays a critical role in the acute and sub-acute management of a wide range of injuries and conditions affecting the shoulder, arm, elbow, forearm, and wrist.

Unlike a traditional triangular bandage sling—which requires skilled tying and is prone to loosening—the pouch sling is a pre-fabricated, consistently fitted device that ensures reliable support regardless of the setting or the competence of the person applying it.

The sling consists of a deep fabric pouch that cradles the forearm from the wrist to the elbow, attached to an adjustable neck strap that distributes the weight of the limb across the back of the neck and opposite shoulder.

Alixor’s version incorporates an ergonomic elbow pocket that prevents the elbow from slipping out during activity, a common failure point in simpler sling designs.

The neck strap is padded to prevent soft tissue discomfort over the cervical spine and trapezius during prolonged wear.

Primary clinical applications include: undisplaced or minimally displaced humeral shaft fractures, clavicle fractures, anterior shoulder dislocations (post-reduction), rotator cuff tears and repairs, acromioclavicular joint injuries, radial head fractures, post-elbow arthroscopy, colles fracture management (alongside a cast), and soft tissue injuries requiring limb offloading and anti-dependent positioning.

The fabric is a blend of breathable polyester and cotton, chosenfor its durability, ease of cleaning, and skin tolerance during prolonged use.

The thumb loop attachment (included in the standard design) maintains appropriate forearm positioning and prevents wrist drop.
